Officers found the suspect, Jamal R. Medina of the 200 block of Red Clay Road, a few doors down from his home after responding about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday to a report of an attempted carjacking of a taxicab. Police say a man climbed into the front of the cab from the back seat, spraying a fire extinguisher at the driver and forcing him out of the vehicle. The driver was able to remove the keys, however, and the assailant fled on foot. Medina was charged with attempted carjacking, attempted theft over $500, attempted motor vehicle theft, second-degree assault and possession of drug paraphernalia. |
